I bought this item to fill a need for extra storage in a small, relatively hidden space in my bedroom. It does exactly that. It's solid and the beige fabric baskets on the darker reddish brown wood shelves look nice and hold craft materials and books in one organized place. The downside is that I wouldn't use this piece in a spot where both sides of the case show. The wood is stained and finished but the quality of the wood is fair (there's about a 3 inch gash on one side that was just painted and finished with no attempt to repair that I can tell) and the back of the case is made of pretty flimsy particle board which actually came slightly ripped and warped...usable but definitely a "work around". Also on the top of the case toward the back edge, the wood was nicked/chipped with no attempt to repair. but it may have happened in shipping. Since I was using this bookcase in the way I did, I didn't send it back, but if I had planned to use it in a more visible space, I definitely would have sent it back. Which is another challenge...I am a relatively strong but petite person so repacking and shipping back to the seller is a project, but the item is not returnable to Walmart. All in all, it's ok for what I paid and for use under the conditions I described. I hope this helps.
