Not like the old ones BUT
Here's the thing. You've read several reviews about this unit. Sam's used to sell a silver version that was a lot more sturdy; totally agree. We too have bought several of these units. They are rather easy to put together with 2 people. And separate parts can be purchased. For example we needed to make these units only two shelves high for what we store on them. Then we purchased extra side legs to use the leftover shelves. That was incredible. Yes, the leg units were a bit expensive but it was rather handy. I am a big guy and have no problem climbing up to get something off the top shelf... so the weight limits are fantastic. Just don't climb the shelving units if they are empty.

Above average, but not what Sam's used to sell!
First of all I guess I was spoiled by the Gorilla shelving I purchased from Sam's a few years ago. It was strong, with thick smooth metal. This Edsal shelving has thinner metal and the edges are not as smooth. It does go together well, but it is easy to get only one tab in place instead of both tabs when placing the cross beams onto the uprights. Pay attention to each one! Also, when installing the bolts and nuts onto the braces it seems natural to drop the bolt in and then install the nut on the bottom. Better method (although a little more difficult) is to install the bolt from the bottom. This will prevent cut hands when loading and unloading (actually using) the shelves later.Overall not bad, but I expected better.

Not what it used to be.
As ACE1957 said, this product is very disappointing compared to the previous rendition. We, as well, have purchased 8 of the silver units in the past. The new ones are so much flimsier than the previous ones. Just leaning on the shelf will easily bow the cross member. We use these shelving units in an industrial application and they are not built for that. They might be OK for your garage or shed but we will definitely not be buying any more.

Purchased 3, very satisfied
Purchased 3 of these for basement storage. Loaded them up with heavy totes and canning supplies. Shelves are very sturdy and well designed. None of the 3 had any imperfections or needed any modifying. Very satisfied.
