Great for the money.

Customer Rating

It is really pretty sturdy for the price. Has a flimsy cardboard back but it doesn't show much. Holds a good amount of DVD/Blu-Rays (a very large amount for the price). Good solid base that is wider/larger than the rest of the piece which is nice. I anchored it to the wall for extra stability. It was pretty easy to assemble also (30 minutes at most). Looks are better than the price would indicate.

Sauder Multimedia Storage Tower, Fruitwood

Customer Rating

I have purchased Sauder items before and found them to be well constructed and of good quality for particle board furniture. Not this time. I assembled the media tower Labor Day weekend. Already the second and third shelves bow.If you store trinkets or other lightweight items instead of CDs and DVDs or you know how to fix this issue (and don't mind doing so) then this is a good addition to your household. On the other hand, if you want a nice sturdy piece to store all of your digital discs in one location then this is not what you're looking for.

Great value for volume.

Customer Rating

Great value considering the # of Dvds it will hold.Minor hiccup with assembly since nailing the back board on is complicated by the forward semi-circle design of the top and bottom pieces, making it difficult to hold steady while hammering in the nails. It helps to have an assistant steady it while you hammer, but you can also brace it with a solidly shoed foot if you doing it yourself.Another reviewer mentioned bowing of the shelves after a prolonged period if they are filled to capacity with DvDs, and suggested cutting the extra shelves to add supports. I find it much easier to simply place those extra shelves on top of the existing ones, making each removable shelf double thick. This adds to the strength without resorting to DIY handywork and maintains the shelves in case you wish to use them at a later date, and it still leaves plenty of up and down room for the DVDs and still maintains a large enough gap to easily finger pull them from the top corner. Great Value & Sturdy!

Customer Rating

Let me start out by saying that I was very picky when shopping for a media storage unit for my DVD collection. My criteria was for a specific dimension range, low price, quality and sturdiness. This unit met all my requirements, and looks good doing it.First of all it is sturdy, attractive holds a good amount of DVDs for it's price. Let me give some dimensions since they are not handily listed anywhere. It is 32.5" wide, the bottom center sticks out approximately 9.5", the shelves are 5.25" deep, and it stands about 45.25" high with the plastic feet attached. Assembly was simple and straightforward. You need a Philips head screwdriver and perhaps a hammer and wood glue for extra sturdiness.A few suggestions to make it sturdier and last longer. If it is going to be in an environment that is humid and/or humidity varies, you might give thought to applying some sort of sealant to the bare, non-laminated parts. While it is made with a particularly dense pressed particle board, it's still particle board, and will warp and/or become brittle over time when exposed to high humidity and dry to humid conditions. Perhaps a sealing stain or some such would work.Another suggestion is to use a small amount of wood glue on the top and bottom of the unit sides where the top and bottom are connected to give it some extra strength.Lastly, if you are using this unit for DVD storage specifically you will end up using only four of the six provided shelves. You might give some thought, if you are craft inclined, to use those extra shelves of middle supports between each shelf in the unit. I noticed after a very short time with a shelf full of DVDs that the shelf begins to buckle a bit, which would of course become more pronounced as time goes on. I measured out the space between the shelves and cut the extra shelves to fit so I could slide one in the middle of each shelf space to help hold them up. It would be nice if this sort of functionality were built into the unit by default, but it's not crucial. All in all this is probably one of the best DVD media storage units for the money, is at least as good as many similar units that sell for twice as much. I highly recommend it, buy two!

inexpensive, but doesn't look it. a little disappointed that i couldn't use all the shelves. picture shows cd's, not dvd's. but it still holds a lot. i may have to get another one.
