Picture does not show actual bookcase.
I like the item overall. The online picture shows evenly spaced shelfs and the appearance of a single piece. The book case is actually two of the three shelf Flip Flop bookcases, one on top of the other. It only comes with one top shelf. This would not be a problem except that it gives you two short shelves. Where the two bookcases join the shelf height is the height of a standard paperback book, the top shelf with the top in place is approximately 6 inches.It is sturdy and seems to hold together, the only connection between the upper and lower bookcaseis the use of four dowels, one at each corner. Good construction, just wish the picture was correct and that is was stated that it was a two piece unit.

Pretty good
I ordered two of these shelves and had no problem setting them up. Be prepared to have someone help you bring them into your home as the boxes are very large and heavy. There was one problem and it wasn't worth sending back the shelves due to that issue. One of the top folding shelves had a long horizontal crack in it about 12 " long. Since that shelf will not support anything heavy I decided to keep that shelf as it would be complicated to send it back for a replacement.

Easy to install
Easy to install, however it is not as sturdy as we thought it would be. So our upper bookcase we would not put heavy items. Color is good, but it has strong odor, not sure it is from paint or some kind of chemical treatment they used on this product. Not sure it will be suitable for family to use, if you have young kids in your household. Thanks

Uneven quality, won't buy again
I bought two of these to go side by side. As other reviewers said, this is actually two stacked 3-shelf bookcases. I got the oak finish but the color is much darker than I expected from the picture. Also, the finishes aren't consistent and on mine the boards don't quite line up, so the bottom and top parts look mismatched. One set stacked fine but the other was drilled incorrectly and I had to force the dowels to line up with pliers to get the top piece to fit on. Finally, the small top shelf is too short to fit even regular pocket paperbacks or DVD cases. Maybe CDs would fit. Good price, but I was disappointed.

Great quality. Easy to 'flip out'. Color is true. EASY.**It is heavy. If you are not strong you will need help putting the upper set on.
