Great Value
This bookshelf is a pretty good value for the price. It went together easily enough, only tools required are a hammer and a screwdriver. The quality of the wood isn't the best of course and chips easily, however considering the price I paid, I can't complain. From a distance you cannot tell it is cheap and it is relativity sturdier than I expected. It is large and has plenty of space for books and other nic nacks. I would definitely purchase one again.

Good value for the price!
Arrived as expected, box in good shape. All parts included plus some extra screws I think? A few scratches on some of the pieces - but not too noticable and for the price I was ok to accept it. Fairly easy to put together but you do need room and I suggest putting it together as close to the final location as possible. It's very tall and you probably don't want to be moving it around too much (these types of things don't transport well).Had a little bit of difficulty with nailing on the back cardboard backing - suggest having 2 people to secure and then nail as it shifts when you are doing by yourself. I was off on the first few nails and had to pull nails (tore backing) and reposition several times. Then didn't have enough shelving to nail properly into and so some nails were coming through the shelf (not going into the wood) due to placement issues. That was the only difficulty I really had.Despite a few kinks - it's worth what you pay for it and I need to go now and load it up!

Good economy shelf
I bought this because we desperately needed storage in a small apartment but didn't want to spend $100 on one small shelf. It's large and was about the lowest cost shelf you can find, especially if you spend just a little more for free shipping. I gave it 4 stars because it is not high quality. While it looks fine from afar, when you look close there were small cosmetic issues when we received it (one hairline crack that doesn't impact use and a chip here and there in the paint). Also, the plastic covers that were supposed to go over the visible silver hardware used to construct it would not fit over them so we could not use them. This was extremely easy to put up and only took about 30 minutes. You need a drill, screwdriver, and hammer. It is also light. Bottom line is that it is exactly what I was expecting when ordering a shelf at that cost and it will serve it's purpose well. I am very happy to have things off the floor and not stacked in corners!

Great bookcase for the price!
Bought this bookcase to provide additional studio storage for our in-home jewelry business. (It's amazing how much room tiny little beads take when you're serious about making jewelry.)At any rate, other than being so heavy I had to carry it upstairs in pieces, it did the job it was intended to do - and looks really nice in the process.I have assembled many such items in the past, and this was no more (or less) difficult than any other. You DO have to pay strict attention to the instructions in order to get each piece facing in the proper direction. But once you set your ego aside and follow the directions, it works out nicely.Due to the somewhat lightweight items we chose to place on the shelves we opted not to use the safety wall strap - but it was nice to see the manufacturer included one.Bottom line:Pros: Looks beautiful, does it's job perfectly, VERY reasonable price tag.Cons: Laminated chipboard, by definition, is heavy, FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.Read more
