repackage and damaged
I ordered 2 of these units online. One came looking normal, but the other box was damaged and looked like it had been opened and retaped up. When I opened the damaged box it looked like it had been repacked with most of the protective packing gone. It looked like it had been repacked at your warehouse. One shelf was gouged up and one of the post couplings was missing. After calling the service number (773) 475-3137 several times and getting a voice mail with no call backs, I went online and found Edsal's main number (773) 254-0600 and linked to their service number. I then got a person and ordered the missing and damaged parts. If you need help with an Edsal product don't waste your time with the service number in the instructions, call the main number above. At this time I have not opened the other box. I think it will be OK. I bought one of these shelf units before from my local Sams store and it has been a good unit.

Strong rack for heavy storage, but...
I just started to assemble, but found no Post Couplers. That means only half of the rack, 2 of 5 shelves, can be assembled. Looks nice and strong, but I'll have to wait for up to 7 days to get the missing parts sent to me. One might think the company would overnight the parts to me since it was their mistake, but that isn't the case.

Flimsy
Expected a much sturdier rack! Hopefully as I place boxes on it this rack will not fall apart!

Great shelving unit
I purchased 5 of these steel shelving nearly 2 months ago and I wanted to wait until this time to write about them. Fantastic units and holds up wonderfully. 2 weeks ago I purchased 3 more shelving units. They are easy to assemble but just be watchful when you connect the upper shelving that you connect the post in the correct direction. The posts should stand and be connected in the "upside down tear drop" position (the slots pointing down). Also connect the brace into the slots with the shelf ledge facing up. I used a rubber mallet to tap connections together.

very heavy, but the box they come in is whimpy!
I have quite a few of the Edsal shelving units. When they have the 1/4" press board shelves, they don't hold what they claim to. Sadly they do not tell you in the specs the thickness of the actual shelves... I will be replacing the shelf with plywood. The metal is great! While I really love the racks, these are very heavy and the manufacture ships them in cheap boxes that ALWAYS come apart. Quite a few? Over 40 of them so far... and all that come with 1/4" shelves are bowed in the center.
