Can't beat this for the price
This looks great, assembly was not complicated and shelf is very sturdy. It is a heavy shelf and really looks nice in our kitchen. Using it for oversize serving pieces.

Great - especially for the price
After looking at several places for this style bookshelf for my son's room , I was delighted to find this for the price. It was easy to assemble and looks great. My only complaint is that the end of one shelf had a nick in the plywood out of the box.

Good Value
Solid materials and construction. Shelf color is definitely an "aged" or as they call it, "rustic" oak finish color. The "wood" is a laminated pressed board. Pretty good realistic look to it. This is a "Sauder" product for those familiar with kitted furniture items. But, it doesn't look cheap like some of that furniture can look. I bought one then I bought another, so I was pleased with the look and performance.

Bookcase is a great value
I went with the reviews before purchasing and was for the most part pleased. The bookcase is easy to assemble and the metal frame is sturdy and timeless in style.The only reason I gave this product 4 versus 5 stars is because of the shelves. When I read the description and the reviews it wasn't clear if the shelves are real wood or typical Sauder pressed board with picture wood. The shelves ARE pressed board with picture wood.They look great but will probably not hold up over time. I intend to cut new boards for the shelves down the road, but for now I'm okay with them. They do look like real wood. Overall, the price is fantastic (I bought 2), and I think you can't go wrong if you'll be using them for light use or can get real wood shelves made to fit.

looks good from both sides
There are a few items in the River Crest collection and this bookshelf is my favorite. It looks like a much more expensive piece from a high end furniture store. It has the look of a reclaimed oak and an antique zinc metal. I have set up this item as part of a display and the nice thing is you can leave it free standing in a room, it looks good from the front or the back. You don't need to have it up against a wall if you don't want to (although that would look great too!) It is nice to have the option. It looks beautiful when you can see the X in the back. If I had the space, I'd like to get two of these shelves to place side by side.Read more
