Beautiful piece of furniture!
This bookcase is very sturdy and beautiful. It is supposed to be caramel colored, but it’s darker than what I would consider caramel, yet not really dark, kind of a light to medium brown. I happen to like the color regardless. It is on the heavy side. I struggled to get it into the house and moved around. I was able to take it out of the box and packaging and put it together in less than an hour – by myself. The bottom shelf has a back to it, I assume as a way to stabilize the unit. It does come with a wall anchor for further stability. It has five shelves, all of which can hold up to 35 pounds each. It is stylish with an open design and cross pieces that make two X’s on each side. The instructions are very easy to follow, with the exception that a couple of the shelves were mis-marked (numbers 6 and 7 were reversed). It didn’t take me long to figure out that they were reversed, because the number six shelf is supposed to have holes drilled into the back edge of it and number seven doesn’t. Other than the shelf number mix up, it really was easy. They include all the hardware and an Allen wrench to put it together (you will also need a Phillips head screw driver). I really like the design and wouldn’t mind having the matching pieces of furniture that they have available. It is an asset to any décor. I am highly recommending this bookcase. Two thumbs up!!!

beautiful and useful
The 10 Spring Street Winslow bookcase in caramel is an elegant and useful piece of furniture. It can be used as a traditional bookcase or it can be used as a room divider. The open cross beam design on the sides gives it an “open concept” feel making it look modern and sleek. The unit comes unassembled and is packed very well. The installation was a breeze and instructions very easy to read. The hardware was segregated and very easy to find. One of the shelves was mislabeled but it was easy to correct and didn’t affect the project. The shelves are made of plywood but the veneer covering them is very good quality and you can’t really tell the difference between solid wood frame and the shelves by looking at them. There are 4 shelves and the space between the bottom shelf and the one above has a thin plywood back. Each shelf is rated to hold 35 lbs so you can use it to display pretty much anything. The bookshelf is very stable even without the wall anchor (also provided). I love the color, it’s more of a dark caramel than the light candy color you would expect. It also has a nice wood grain detail on it.

Nice little bookshelf for a narrow wall area
This bookshelf arrived disassembled in a very heavy box, 6 ft. 4 in. long. It was carefully packed with plenty of styrofoam and foam sheets between the pieces. The upright side panels are made of solid wood, the shelves are made of a heavy particle board with a veneer. The color is a little darker than the picture. Three of the shelves are braced on the bottom, and said to hold 35 lbs. apiece. Each shelf is a generous 13 1/4 in. deep.I was happy to see that the instructions were clear and simple. Quality hardware is included, bubble-packed and labeled by steps, so assembly is almost idiot-proof. An allen wrench is included, and you will need a phillips and flathead screwdriver. Following the steps went easy with no mishaps, as each shelf is labeled on the bottom. The only hitch I ran into was that shelf 6 (from instructions) was mis-labeled as shelf 7 by sticker...but this only caused about 15 seconds of confusion.Fully assembled, the shelf unit is 6 ft. high, so you will definitely want to take advantage of the wall strap that is included for safety. The unit is only 25 in. wide, so it will be good for a narrow area or an accent piece. I would not load this unit with the weight of many books, but it is just the right size for the canvas storage cubes that come in various colors, or to display different items. I detected just a tiny bit of bubbling on one of the shelf edges, but the shelves should hold up well as long as they are not overloaded or exposed to moisture.

Simply Beautiful!
The 10 Spring Street Winslow Bookcase in Caramel arrived in very nice packaging. It was well-protected and the parts were all labeled clearly. The total assembly time was approximately 20 minutes start to finish. AssemblyThe instructions were mostly clear. I would only give them 4 stars because they images didn't all show every part to use for each step. One step in particular omitted the fact that two cam-locks needed to be placed. That took a few minutes to figure out. The hardware on the other hand, came in the best set-up I've ever seen on a product that had to be assembled. Each step had it's own little blister pack of parts so you knew exactly what to use for each step. This is how I caught the weird issue with the image on the instructions. There were also spares which is wonderful!The only tools I used to assemble is a hand-held screwdriver with a Allen head and a medium-sized Phillips head. The product came with an Allen wrench that I didn't end up using. There were approximately five steps to follow and it was very quick and very easy. I had no problems with it at all and I'm not mechanically inclined.The very last piece required for assembly was damaged. I'm not sure how, because the box and packaging were fantastic. I think it had to have been packaged that way. It was the bottom section of the side and it looked like it maybe had twisted because part of it had popped off the dowel and part of it was cracked. I continued with assembly because I really had no choice. It was in an area that didn't attach to other pieces with any hardware except for two long bolts so didn't seem to affect it that much. Overall OpinionThe entire bookcase is really attractive. It's much heavier and sturdier than I expected it to be, as each individual piece felt relatively light. The color is beautiful and blends in well with other woodwork since it's not too red and not too light. The finish is smooth and not too shiny. It's more of a satin finish. It sits well and isn't rickety. Each of the shelf spaces are HUGE! I was really shocked at how tall this bookcase is and how roomy each section are. I took a photo of it up against a door so you can see how tall it is, and placed some things on it to show how deep the sections are. It comes with a wall strap so you can actually strap it against your wall if you want. I guess this is to keep it from pitching forward? I left mine as it is because I don't like putting holes in my sheetrock. It seems stable so I am not concerned.I think it'll hold a fair amount of weight, though I probably wouldn't load it completely full of reference books. It might take them without warping, but why push it? I think for normal books and decor items, it will work just fine. I really like the decorative touch of the panel on the bottom section. It brings out the beauty of the piece nicely.I would definitely recommend this item to anyone looking for stylish, modern bookcase to add to their room.

this bookcase was delivered well packed to minimize any possible transport damage. weight is approximately 45 pounds and dimensions of the bookcase is approximately 72" tall by 25.2" wide and having a depth of 13.2" inches. assembling the bookcase took only about an hour at a relaxed pace. it wasn't difficult to follow the directions. the basic part of the hardware consists of cam-locks, bolts to tighten the cam-locks, lock washers and dowels. also comes with an allen wrench for the bolts. the cross bars on the sides of the bookcase come pre-attached and are solidly secured. this makes the unit even easier to assemble because there is just the 2 sides, 5 shelves, and a short backboard for the bottom shelf. the entire unit is made of solid wood with a soft smooth sanded finish having a beautiful coloring, not light, but not too dark either. the cross bars on the sides of the shelves helps contain your items from falling off the shelf, and yet the openness of the sides aids to allowing light to pass all around your objects on the shelf instead of blocking light as most bookcases do. the unit comes with a wall anchor and a canvas strap to be able to secure it to your wall. this should be used if you have children who like to climb or if you place heavier items on upper shelving and not on bottom shelves. this unit blends in well with other wood finishes and looks nice. not only in the living room and bedroom, but in the dining room. this style of furniture also comes in cabinets and matching desk. I like this shelving for its openness for light to pass and also that it is solid wood and you don't have to be concerned with shelves sagging in the middle or becoming weak.Read more
